Bloggers BeWaRe !%!

Warning!!! You are at risk and should be cautious in the blogosphere!

I’m no expert but people are very vulnerable on the internet and definitely blogs and bloggers even more. Like mother-nature, bad people are not forgiven if you’re ignorant of the information, or of who you are, or how old you are. As a matter of fact I’ve been very foolish myself on the internet over and over. Please understand that identity theft, stalking, crime and bad people are very real on the internet.

Lots of people are making it very easy for these crimes to take place and to become a victim. Being aware of how to protect yourself gives you a little advantage but not much. The individual is not the only one providing all types of private information about themselves! Companies, schools, agencies, friends and the government are being kind and providing much of this information too. Let your schools and other agencies know of this problem and demonstrate your concerns. There are wonderful advantages to the information age but the dangers are there too.

I went to one blog in a matter of minutes; I had a persons name, age, birth date, school address, home address, home phone, phone number in school, major in college, likes, dislikes, emails, church, job information, family member information and a bunch more. All this with one email from that blog! It took only minutes and a few standard search tools. That is a lot of information!

Many people do not even know all this information is available and being provided by schools, agencies, organizations, government and companies and being placed on the internet; these were free and not even utilizing paid for databases. Some are posting this information with out your consent or knowledge and a lot of these agencies you have to request they don’t post the information on the internet or can’t even request. There are paid for databases that provide even more information and they are far from safe that criminals can’t access them.

I’m far from an expert in this field. I’m providing a few links below and you can find many more with a couple searches!

Too true. I'm very open and have had numerous stalkers for various reasons. I actually shut down my site for a time after one showed up at my door and scared the bejeebers outta me.
