International Weblogger's Day

International Weblogger's Day (InWeDay)” is an unofficial project with a large scale goal to have bloggers internationally celebrate a day by commemorating the work of webloggers. In the about section this site states one of the project goals is to petition the global community for such a day as "international weblogger's day". This will be the second event and there are already over 300 bloggers signed up to participate. The FAQ and about section are rather short and vague. There are no prizes, rewards or commercialism on the site for this project which I rather liked. It’s sort of a meme project to have fun, celebrate and do some good blogging. Anyone with a blog can participate as far as I can see. I give it 8 stars. June 14th is just around the corner and if you think you might be interested in a project like this all you have to do is cruise on over and sign up. I’m not sure of a need for an international day for webloggers. However, there is day for just about everything else and if a bunch of people find it important why not have one. If anything I figure it is worth the effort to celebrate and commemorate the freedom of the media being placed into the publics own control. There are a number of brilliant creations that have been established and produced via this new media. If an official one is never established that doesn’t mean a lot of people can’t enjoy the unofficial one!

8 stars
