2004 Weblog Awards
“2004 Weblog Awards” is not a blog but a great place to go browsing other blogs. The deadline is past for entering this years awards but you can still vote for blogs you like the most until December 12, 2004. There is an archive of past awards and all types of categories. Unfortunately, it appears they are having some problems with abuse at this time and doing their best to fight that. It still makes for an interesting directory to browse and find blogs you enjoy. I give it 9 stars. There had to be a lot of work and time put into this effort.9 stars

I think I'd give a little more credence to these weblog awards if The Powers That Be would have divulged what the criteria was for whittling all of the nominees down to a manageable size...because some of the choices were truly boggling, given the diversity out there. JMHO.
It sounds like there is a lot more going on besides just the abuse announcements posted at the site itself. I've read a few issues on some blogs but haven't looked into them in any real depth myself to be honest.
I agree that there are some great blogs out here and the criteria issue you mentioned may have helped things out!
